FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What Is a Private Studio?

Ink Driver is a studio that is by appointment only meaning it is different to a walk-in studio, (which is exactly as it sounds- you get to simply walk in) Now, you might be thinking that just walking in sounds easier than booking in.  However, taking the time to book in and discuss your tattoo ideas leads to a much more positive and relaxed tattooing experience. Because I won’t be tattooing you the minute you walk through the door, I have the time to create the most perfect tattoo for you. Something that fits the area of the body correctly and that you have had input in designing.  This gives you the best possible experience and allows me to produce the best possible work.  I also don’t need to rush you on the off chance another customer comes in, meaning I’m not just tattooing for the cash.  I genuinely love tattooing and will book you in for all the time you need.

  • How Much Does a Tattoo Cost?

Each tattoo is individually priced depending on the size, placement on the body, whether it’s black or grey or using coloured ink. Included in the needle on skin time is the designing, admin and preparation.  I’m not just copying a picture of a tattoo you’ve seen someone else have, I’m creating artwork that is completely personal to you.

  • How Do I Choose a Design for My Tattoo?

I offer FREE 30- minute consultations at the studio.  Bring any reference pictures that you like the look of, simply screenshot them from the internet and just bring your phone.  You can even bring your own artwork or photographs to be part of the design too.   Then we’ll talk about your ideas, and I can talk about what will work on the body and what won’t.  I will also measure and photograph the area to be tattooed to make sure it will be a perfect fit.  I’ll then put all of our ideas together and invite you back into the studio to see the design and make sure you’re happy before my needle touches your skin.

  • What Should I Do to Prepare for My Tattoo Appointment?

Pre-tattoo advice and a medical declaration form is sent out before every appointment, but you can view them here too.

  • What Is the Aftercare Process for A New Tattoo?

Post-tattoo advice is sent out after every appointment, but you can view it here too.

  • Do I Have to Pay a Deposit?

Yes. The time involved in your tattoo doesn't start when my needle hits your skin. It gives me the security that you will turn up for the tattoo and appreciate all of the pre- tattoo effort that has gone into it. The deposit also gives you the benefit of knowing your tattoo appointment is firmly booked in and I’m giving you appropriate time and attention.

The deposit is 50% of the full tattoo price plus a £5 booking fee.  Both are paid electronically via a secure link sent to you before your appointment (final balance paid in cash on the day of the appointment) This link also lets you book in your tattoo appointment directly into my calendar at a time that suits you so there’s no back and forth about when we’re both free.  You get to simply look at my bookings and choose a slot that works around you.

  • I’m Autistic, Can I Be Tattooed?

Of course! Ink Driver is a completely inclusive studio.  The process of getting a tattoo can be daunting for some, from the enquiry through to the needle. But I want to make it as easy and accessible as possible for everyone to be tattooed. Here are a few things that I can do for you but if you need something else, then please just let me know.

    • If you need help with the enquiry form or understanding anything that's sent out to you, just let me know and I can break it down and support you.
    • Coming to the studio can be a break from the normal routine. Send me a message and I can make sure at your consultation you have time to look at the space and really understand the tattoo process.
    • The chemicals used for cleaning can have a strong smell, feel free to bring sweets or chewing gum to help mask the odour.
    • The tattoo machine can make a buzzing sound, please feel free to bring your headphones or ear defenders. I can even turn it on and let you hear it at your consultation if you like.
    • If you need rest breaks or a space to stim, just let me know and we can factor that into your tattoo experience. There will be no barriers to a tattoo at Ink Driver.
